What to expect when you work with us
Frequently asked questions
No. While many of our clients search for a nutritionist in Auckland, all of our coaching is delivered online, so you can work with us from anywhere in New Zealand, be that Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, or a place in between!
Both work in nutrition, but the titles are regulated differently in New Zealand. Our coaching is led by an MNU-certified nutritionist and focuses on evidence-based behaviour change for goals like body composition, energy, performance, and a healthier relationship with food. Dietitians can work with simple lifestyle cases too, but they have a greater scope of practice which also includes complex medical conditions. If you have a clinical condition that needs medical nutrition therapy, we'll always refer you to the right registered professional. We can even help you to understand and implement their advice in real life.
Every recommendation is grounded in current, peer-reviewed nutrition science rather than trends or anecdote. We'll also be honest with you where there isn't strong evidence, and we're making recommendations based on experience or psychological frameworks.
MNU is publicly endorsed by doctors, registered dietitians, lecturers, and nutrition researchers globally for its evidence-based, practical approach to nutrition coaching — so you can trust that your plan is built on what actually works.
Intermittent fasting works for some people as one way to manage how much they eat — but it isn't magic, and it isn't right for everyone. Like any tool, it only helps if it fits your life and you can stick with it long-term. We never push a one-size-fits-all rule. Learn more about intermittent fasting on our blog.
Nutrition plays a central role in managing insulin resistance and PCOS, and many people report that an evidence-based, realistic diet can make a meaningful difference to energy, weight, and symptoms. We build an eating strategy around your circumstances — and we'll always work alongside your doctor or specialist, who will be the providers of any medical care.
Absolutely. Menopause changes how your body handles energy, appetite, and body composition, so the approach that worked in your thirties may need updating. Rather than a restrictive 'menopause diet', we help you adjust your nutrition and habits sustainably to support your energy, strength, and weight through this stage of life.
No. Kaya is an MNU-certified Nutritionist with a Diploma in Advanced Nutrition Science, recognised under the Regulated Qualifications Framework (UK), not a naturopath. Many people search for a naturopath because they want a natural, lifestyle-based approach to health. This is exactly what evidence-based nutritionists do, except they recommend only interventions that have been established through rigorous peer reviewed scientific evidence.
Hair analysis, IgG blood panel food intolerance testing, detoxes, restrictive 'clean eating' approaches, and many expensive supplement protocols are not evidence based. In some cases these can cause significant harm to your health – including liver toxicity, IBS-like symptoms, and unnecessary food anxiety or disordered eating patterns.
Science x Art Nutrition offers the same whole-person focus on food, habits, energy, training, sleep, and long-term wellbeing, but through evidence-based nutrition coaching grounded in current science.
A meal plan tells you what to eat for a few weeks; behaviour-change coaching teaches you how to make good decisions for the rest of your life. Rather than handing you rigid rules, we help you build sustainable habits so the results last long after we stop working together.
Many clients notice changes in energy and confidence within the first few weeks. Because we prioritise sustainable habits over rapid restriction, the bigger wins like body composition, consistency, and a genuinely easier relationship with food build steadily over the following months and, importantly, tend to stick.
Coaching is an investment in skills you keep for life, and it's typically far cheaper over time than ongoing weight-loss medication.
Most people will do well on our standard $99 per week plan, but we recommend booking your free consultation to discuss your needs. Those needing less support can work with us for as little as $69 per week, and we can also develop a bespoke wrap around arrangement customised to your circumstances.
